Frequently Asked Questions about Expotent Accessories
Can I mount the base plates on all tent types?
In principle, YES. The base plates have a webbing strap fastener that can be placed around the tent legs and secured with a buckle. Due to the triangular cut of the base plates, they fit into the inner corner of any tent, so that the side walls extend over the plate to the ground on the outside and do not rest on the plate.
Is it better to use base plates or water bags for weighting?
In general, it is important to weight the folding tents so that they do not lift off in the wind. If the weight of the ballast does not matter during transport in a car/bus/truck, then steel base plates are of course ideal, as they are small and handy (carrying handle) to transport.
Should weight become an issue, water bags are particularly suitable. With a capacity of 40 liters of water, these filled PVC bags are the ideal weighting for small and especially large tents. Because the bags can be emptied at the end of the event, only the PVC shell remains for transport, which can also be folded up small.
Ultimately, the decision is a question of aesthetics and/or weight.
Can I use the transport roller systems for all tent types?
The transport roller system patented by us is height-adjustable and can therefore be adapted to the respective triangular feet of the tents.
Thus, every Expotent tent type can be transported with this roller system. Only the weight of the frame limits its use. An 8x4m tent, for example, is normally too heavy to be pulled in a tilted state. This also applies to 5x5m and 6x6m tents.

What is the function of the click-rollers?
The click-rollers are only available for Expotent “Professional” frames, as the mount was specifically designed for the Professional’s triangular plate. These click-rollers are clicked onto each leg and then lock automatically with a locking lever. 1–2 rollers also have a brake function on the wheel, so that the tent does not roll away during storage. With these click-rollers, however, the tent is pushed/pulled upright and vertically and is not tilted like with the roller system. The click-rollers also make it easier to pull the tent apart or push it together during dismantling. When set up, however, the click-rollers should be removed again so that the folding tent has a good and secure stand on the plates.
Once the click-rollers are removed, they can be stored in a small bag so that they do not get lost and are immediately available again during dismantling.
In which direction does the water from the rain gutter drain?
The Expotent horizontal rain gutter is cut so that it has a high point and a low point. The rainwater therefore only drains in one direction. Depending on where the water should flow, you can rotate or set up the rain gutter accordingly. Thanks to a 20 cm longer drainage gutter, the water drains outside the tent and does not run into the tent. This rain gutter is simply attached to the inside of the roof with Velcro. We also recommend using Expotent connecting clamps to connect the tents. The rain gutter then has the same distance at the front and back, so that the rainwater can drain well. In addition, the rain gutter cannot be torn down by the wind because the tents do not shift.
What is the function of the vertical rain gutter?
The vertical rain gutter has the great advantage that the rainwater from the horizontal rain gutter can then run vertically inside the PVC tube to the ground and does not hit the ground from a height of 2 m and splash back into the tent. Thus, the water drains cleanly downwards within the gutter and you do not get splashed. This vertical rain gutter is simply attached to the two legs below the horizontal gutter with Velcro and thus also professionally closes the gap between the two tents.
The gap in the opposite rear area between the tents is also closed by an additionally supplied cover.
What is the purpose of the horizontal connecting rod?
The horizontal connecting rod has two uses. Firstly, it serves as the suspension for the bottom of the half-height side wall so that it cannot sag in the middle. Secondly, it increases the stability of the tent against wind, as the legs are connected to each other.
A short vertical leg also supports the rod in the middle, should someone want to sit or lean on the rod, for example.
What is the advantage of the diagonal connecting rod compared to the horizontal rod?
The diagonal connecting rod patented by us is the perfect solution, especially in windy areas. By arranging the rods as a cross, it stiffens the two connected legs to such an extent that the tent stands like a house. In addition, the cross also prevents the side wall from bulging in strong winds. If this rod is mounted over two corners, for example, there is almost no “wobbling” of the tent anymore, and the overall stability is increased enormously.
The great advantage of this construction is that the rigid aluminum rod can absorb tensile and compressive forces and not just tensile forces, as is the case with wire rope bracing.
